Celebrating & Supporting Spirituality for All
Pleasant View's 50th Anniversary July Event

Staff member and individuals served by Pleasant View amongst the Love sign at Heritage Park Broadway VA

The mission of Pleasant View, Inc. is to support individuals who have disabilities in living out their goals for meaningful work, relationships, and spiritual development. In July of 2000 Pleasant View hired pastor Dave Gullman to assist individuals who have disabilities in achieving their personal spiritual goals and help provide opportunities for spiritual development.

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 we celebrated Pleasant View's support for spirituality for All. The evening was planned for a beautiful outdoor event, but the clouds which had held off all day unleashed a rain storm just as the program began. After we rushed everyone inside the building, we regrouped and had a lovely evening together which started with a welcome from Executive Director, Kevin Paluszak. Former Executive Director, Nancy Hopkins-Garriss, began the program by sharing Pleasant View's history of supporting individuals we serve in meeting spiritual goals and the decision to hire Dave Gullman as our pastor. Dave facilitated individuals who have disabilities to share what spirituality means to them and how their faith has especially helped them through this past year and during other significant periods in their lives. We were blessed with music and the reading of 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. Dave Gullman then introduced Derek Yoder as Pleasant View's new pastor who will walk alongside us into our future.

A link to a video of the event will be provided here. We regret that when we quickly moved inside, the film and sound quality suffered. In person, it was a lovely evening of love, support, appreciation, and community. Following the program, the weather had cleared so we could socialize outdoors and enjoy light snacks. Copies of Teachers of the Soul written by Pastor Dave Gullman were available and still are with an asking price of $10.00.
